All of Ecuador’s 42,000 officers will have to take lie-detector tests to root out corruption, the country’s police chief has decreed.
General Wilson Alulema’s announcement follows an order by President Rafael Correa for the service to be modernised after a mutiny in the ranks last September over employment benefits that the politician described as an attempted coup.
