Former Ecuadorian president Rafael Correa called on law enforcement agencies this Friday to stop violence against people demonstrating peacefully against the economic measures imposed by the Lenin Moreno government.
In a video uploaded on Twitter, Correa urged the police and military not to go on protecting ‘a government destroyed by its own betrayal and mediocrity, which will have to respond for so much repression.
He also said that President Lenin Moreno had broken democracy and the law when he betrayed the winning government program at the polls.
Correa reiterated that the Constitution of Ecuador envisages snap elections when there is a political crisis like the one the South American country has been experiencing for the last 10 days.
