Maintenance work began on April 7, 2020, after the Esmeraldas Refinery went out of operations due to a failure in the Interconnected System.
Petroecuador completed the maintenance, repair and start-up of the Fluidized Catalytic Cracking Unit (FCC) of the Esmeraldas Refinery, the largest refining plant in the country.
Esmeraldas completed 46 years of operations and has a capacity to process 110,000 barrels of oil per day.
Petroecuador personnel, with the help of foreign technicians specialized in turbo machinery, carried out the lifting, alignment, functional testing and installation of the F-C01 compressor at the plant between April 2020 and September 16, 2021.
