New York — A former Ecuadorean judge and key witness in Chevron’s New York court battle to block a $19 billion Amazon pollution judgment took the stand on Wednesday to testify that defendant Steven Donziger and associates paid him thousands of dollars in exchange for favorable court orders.
Alberto Guerra claims he accepted $1,000 a week from Donziger’s team in exchange for arranging court orders in the underlying Ecuadorean court battle that would limit Chevron’s procedural options and “expedite the proceedings of the case.”
