With the support of the embassy, EP Petroecuador and agencies of the US emergency team analysed the regressive erosion that occurred on the banks of the Quijos River in Alto Coca, Ecuador, after it impacted the stability of the SOTE infrastructure in April.
A group of experts from the US Geological Survey (USGS), the US Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) will now design long-term alternatives to protect the pipeline.
To do so, the group will evaluate the characteristics of the natural phenomenon and the geological formation of the sector.
