CNN – Trial against accused Ecuadorian cop postponed
Development in fallout from unrest in Ecuador last fall:
A trial scheduled for this week in the case of an Ecuadorian police official charged with attempting to assassinate the country’s president was abruptly canceled because the judge went on vacation, according to a court document.
Police Col. Cesar Carrion, who has been jailed for six months, was to find out at Tuesday’s hearing whether there was sufficient evidence for the legal proceedings against him to continue, or whether the charges would be dropped. A new date for the hearing has not been set, and the proceeding is in limbo.
