“Ecuador’s threat to seize oil fields from foreign firms is familiar brinkmanship from President Rafael Correa as he seeks higher oil revenue for the OPEC nation. And his nerve should not be underestimated. Mr. Correa, the leftist who last Monday began a second presidential term, is a notoriously tough negotiator who believes he can scare investors into hiking output and signing new contracts.”
